In the initial phone call, Dr. Gibson or an assistant will speak with you about the reasons for the psychological testing request, who is needing the information (and copies of the report), the capacity of the client to complete testing, payment source, and other important issues.
Some basic information will be collected at that time including a valid e-mail address so we can send you a link to the client portal. When you enter the client portal, you will be able to complete our initial paperwork online as High Point Counseling is completely paperless in this regard. You will be required to enter valid credit card information as well as a picture of the front and back of your insurance card.
On the date of testing, depending on the type of testing, plan on spending anywhere from 1.5 to 4 hours onsite. There may be some “paper and pencil” screening forms to complete before being seen for the interview portion of the evaluation. Thereafter, the clinical/diagnostic interview takes place with Dr. Gibson wherein a full history is taken of your symptoms as well as other medical, psychological, and social concerns. This is followed by face-to-face testing (in many cases) or completing other testing measures using an iPad in a separate room.
Upon completion of the testing, Dr. Gibson spends several hours scoring and interpreting the tests, reviewing any relevant records, and writing up the psychological evaluation report. Much of this specialized work is done behind the scenes but is part of the cost of the evaluation.

Social Security Disability Determination Services (SSDDS)
Adult or Children’s Developmental Disability Waiver (DD Waiver) Program
Medical professionals for pre-surgical psychological evaluations (e.g., bariatric surgeries or spinal cord stimulator procedures), diagnostic clarification, or ADHD testing
Other mental health professionals to aid in diagnostic clarification and treatment planning
Court or Probation for diagnostic information and treatment recommendations
Police departments for pre-employment screening
Self-referral – for a variety of mental health issues (e.g., ADHD testing, Autism screening, IQ testing, Memory testing, Personality testing, etc.)
