Hello, I am Leslie Smith, and I am a licensed counselor at High Point Counseling, who recently received my master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Capella University.  I grew up on the Wasatch front camping, hiking, biking, skiing, farming, and playing with seven siblings. I married over 30 years ago and together we have raised four amazing children and are grandparents to three amazing grandchildren. 

I graduated from Weber State University with my Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Development and taught preschool for many years privately and for the Head Start program. A few years ago, I decided to make a career change and enrolled in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling program at Capella University.  My desire is to provide a safe and trusting environment to allow clients to explore their lived experiences honestly, openly, and comprehensively. 

As a counselor, I will help clients develop a better sense of how they are “authors” of their own lives and to embrace the freedom of making their own decisions. I believe the way to heal from stressful experiences involves recognition of responsibility, not for the trauma, but for the recovery.  I bring the experiences of a parent, spouse, grandparent, sibling, friend, and teacher to the counseling process to explore the best possible solutions to navigate the complexities and anxieties of life.
